LAWSUIT FILED TO OBTAIN STATE POLICE INVESTIGATIVE FILE ON ABC ENFORCEMENT DIRECTOR BOYCE HAMLET

A lawsuit has been filed to obtain the Arkansas State Police (ASP) investigation file of Boyce Hamlet that resulted in his termination as a trooper back in August 2000.

A Freedom of Information Request was sent to the ASP on August 16, 2015 that asked for a copy of their investigative file on Hamlet.

The ASP advised Hamlet about the request for the file and indicated that they intended to release it.  Hamlet requested an opinion from the Attorney General, and fellow Republican, Leslie Rutledge.  Rutledge penned the opinion herself and stated as there was no compelling public interest, the information should not be released.

We believe that there is in fact a great public interest in what led to Hamlet's termination for misconduct from the Arkansas State Police, especially since he has been appointed to head a law enforcement agency of the state of Arkansas.
